Sonnet 2

When forty winters shall besiege thy brow,

And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field,

Thy youth's proud livery, so gazed on now,

Will be a tatter'd weed, of small worth held:

Then being ask'd where all thy beauty lies,

Where all the treasure of thy lusty days,

To say, within thine own deep-sunken eyes,

Were an all-eating shame and thriftless praise.

How much more praise deserved thy beauty's use,

If thou couldst answer 'This fair child of mine

Shall sum my count and make my old excuse,'

Proving his beauty by succession thine!

This were to be new made when thou art old,

And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold.

What's it all about?

Composition Journal - Carte Postal
I'm the kind of person who feels better after writing stuff down;  lists, diaries, notes, poems, musings and all sorts of crap. I might as well let it all up on the web ways and save paper. I'm surprised I've never done it before now as I'm not usually this far behind technology. I consider myself to be fairly well internet-savvy for my age, but some things seem too banal and irrelevant to commit. However, I suppose if everyone thought that way we wouldn't have those wonderful old diaries, household notebooks and journals of ordinary people from years gone by. And so I guess this will be my 21st century version.

In the ideal world, I'd have some beautifully crafted book like the one pictured above, made by autumntomay at Etsy. For now, this'll have to do me as I'm not Martha Stewart, I'm Sally May.
